The L1s faced Timperley on Saturday which turned out to be an equally contested game. With chances being created at both ends, it was Timperley who managed to take the lead at the end of the second quarter with a well executed strike in open play. Despite Fylde’s best efforts and strong fight back in the final quarter, they couldn’t manage to equalise. Another game lost by only one goal leaves Fylde feeling disappointed but they look to pick up their first points away at Doncaster next week.
Liverpool Sefton 2XI 3-1 Fylde 2XI
North Hockey League West Division 2
The Fylde Ladies 2nd Team played in Liverpool on Saturday against a strong adult side who managed a 3-1 win over a depleted Fylde team due to more players having to support the first team and school half terms. The game was evenly matched but the 12 players were no match for the 16 put out against them.
We can but hope the squad will have a regular team sometime this season. In addition we need far more adult players who can play every week as the school holidays and matches are effecting selection in a major way.
The first half saw two goals, one from open play and one from a direct shot at a short corner. The second half witnessed Fylde working really hard to attack whenever they could. The game was much more even. Liverpool went 3 up but Fylde worked really hard and deserved their goal from Sally Livesey at a PC.
Fylde 3XI 2-4 Liverpool Sefton 3XI
North Hockey League West Division 3 North
The Fylde Women’s 3rds were caught napping by a physical Liverpool Sefton 3rd team and found themselves 3 goals in arrears after only 15 minutes. A massive improvement in the 2nd half included a further Liverpool goal, but Fylde goals for the outstanding Hannah Callagher and for Pippa Rogerson.
